25th SAS Cup 2016: Championship Match – Australia (4) – India (0)
Australia showed that they are a team to be reckoned with come this Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August with a clinical display of skills, defeating India 4 – nil.
India, one of the four teams participating in this year’s Sultan Azlan Shah Cup that are bound for Rio, put up a gallant fight and defended really well. Unfortunately, by the end of the game, the Indians failed to put a ball in the net.
By the way, local hockey fans came out in full force, supporting either Australia or India, and basically, celebrated the sport.
The atmosphere in the stadium was electrifying even though Malaysia had featured in an earlier game. Malaysia lost to New Zealand in the bronze medal match in a nail-biting game via a penalty shootout which saw the teams draw 3-all, then 5 to 4 in New Zealand’s favour.
