23rd SAS Cup 2014: Day 3 – Australia (6) – Canada (0)
Coming away from the game with a heavy defeat in the hands of the mighty Aussies, Canada admitted to taking home with them valuable lessons from the game.
At a press conference prior to the commencement of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2014, Canada coach Anthony Farry had said that due to the country’s geographical location, his boys had not many chances to play international field hockey.
Therefore, playing against Australia proved to be a great experience for the Canadians who have not played at this calibre before.
Coach Farry acknowledged uncharacteristic mistakes from his team. My personal opinion is that that’s sometimes expected when under pressure.
Even the Aussies made a number of errors in the last quarter. Australia missed some easy chances and the scoreline could have been better, observed Coach Ric Charlesworth. He would like his boys to win more corners in their next game.
