Why? The state’s football club has been turned into a brand that many could love to support and associate themselves with. Yes, I’m talking about the JOHOR Southern Tigers, or better known as JDT, acronym for Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club.

During my recent tourism product update as part of the Eat.Travel.Ride.2017 delegation, I had the opportunity to tour Stadium Larkin (on the outside). It won’t be long that the stadium will be opened to tourists and fans, but on certain dates, just like what’s currently happening in Europe.

The exemplary stadium is Tan Sri Dato’ Hj. Hassan Yunos Stadium, or simply known among the locals as Larkin Stadium, where it is located. With a capacity of 25,000 seats, the stadium easily fills up during home games.

Staunch supporters of JDT have formed a fan club and they are called “Boys of Straits”. The fan club has a merchandise store-cum-fan gallery at the stadium grounds.

Established since 2010, the club only began growing in 2013, with 2000 fans to date. Perhaps it was due to this fan support that JDT swept the Malaysia Super League Championship every year from 2014 onwards.
