Pulau Ketam Ferry Services, Schedule & Fare
I never imagined that it is so easy to go to Pulau Ketam (Crab Island) from Ipoh, until I made the trip myself. Experience is the best teacher, they say. In fact, it is so hassle-free that I went to Pulau Ketam twice within a span of under two weeks!
If you plan to use public transport like I did, hop on KTM Komuter heading towards Pelabuhan Klang (Port Klang) and disembark at the last stop, which is Port Klang. From the train station, take a short walk to the Port Klang Jetty.
At the jetty, there are three boat services to Pulau Ketam. There is the water taxi that takes just 20 minutes (Teksi Air Pulau Ketam Port Klang), then there is the air-con speed boat (Khim Hoong Ferry Services) and last but not least, a fairly new service that was just launched on 25th Nov, 2016 (Alibaba Pulau Ketam Cruises).
Alibaba uses a double decker boat with indoor passenger cabin that can accommodate up to 107 pax and has an open-air viewing deck. It also has a couple of 240V power sockets.
Passenger fare for the water taxi is unavailable at this time as the counter was closed when I was there. As for the air-con speed boat, it is RM8 per trip. Alibaba charges RM10 (adult) and RM6 (child) for single trip. Return tickets are RM18 (adult) and RM10 (child).
Do take note that some boats stop at Sungai Lima jetty before proceeding to Pulau Ketam jetty. So, make sure you disembark at the correct jetty. The whole trip takes about 30 – 40 minutes although the water taxi claims to do it in 20 minutes. On the other hand, delays caused by passenger load or weather may delay the trip.
