Noor Arfa Craft Centre, Kuala Terengganu
Said to be a pioneer in Malaysian batik, Noor Arfa Craft Centre in Kuala Terengganu, or NACC in short, was established in 1980.
It was my second visit to the craft centre, the first time was during the 2012 Malaysia Tourism Hunt, where we participated in a batik-painting challenge here.
Owned by the husband-and-wife team, Wan Mohd. Ariffin and Noor Hijerah, NACC is not only a retail store for (mainly) batik-wear and souvenirs, this is where tourists can get an insight and understanding on how songket is weaved, batik is painted, and glass is shaped into various gifts, just to name a few craft demonstrations.
For RM10, the more adventurous visitors to NACC could try their hand and skills at batik painting, with the self-painted piece of batik making it an awesome gift.
Recently, Noor Arfa has even expanded to Malacca – it is said to be the largest batik house in the west coast.
