Ayam Gepuk Pak’An: A New Flavour Lands in Sunway City Tambun, Ipoh
The food scene in Sunway City Tambun just got a bold new addition with the arrival of Restoran Ayam Gepuk Pak’An, which officially opened its doors on 7th November 2025.

Conveniently located beside KFC Tambun, this eatery has quickly become a new go-to for locals seeking something fiery and flavourful, with a warm Malaysian touch.

The name “Ayam Gepuk” itself holds the secret to its deliciousness. Ayam means “chicken,” while gepuk comes from memukul, meaning “to pound” or “to hit.” This step defines the dish. After the chicken is boiled or steamed until tender, it is gently pounded with a mallet or the side of a cleaver. This not only makes the meat incredibly soft but also helps to absorb the flavours of the marinade and the sambal,/i> more deeply. The result? Juicy chicken with a powerful kick of spice that lingers beautifully on the palate.

The menu offers a range of sets designed for every appetite. The basic Set Asli (RM9.90) features Ayam Gepuk, white rice, cucumber, cabbage, kuah gajus (a creamy cashew sauce), and sambal gepuk.
For a fuller experience, Set Best (RM11.90) and Set Cun (RM12.90) add tofu, tempeh, and chicken gizzards for extra bite.

The indulgent Set Dahsyat (RM13.90) comes with fried cabbage for that extra crunch, while seafood lovers will enjoy the Set Talapia Gepuk (RM15.90) featuring a whole fried tilapia. There’s even Set Tenders Garuda (RM14.90) for foodies who prefer chicken tenders with all the signature trimmings.
For diners who prefer something soupy or comforting, the restaurant also offers Bakso Sapi Jumbo (RM11.90), a hearty bowl filled with beef balls, tofu, and glass noodles in a rich, savoury broth.

Meanwhile, Soto Makassar (RM11.90), comes with nasi impit, beef slices, and fried vermicelli. Children aren’t left out either; the Kid’s Tenders Meal (RM9.90) is a wholesome plate of chicken tenders, sausages, rice, and soup made just right for little tummies.

To make each meal more personal, diners can request extras like fried tempeh, tofu, or cabbage, or even go all out with additional sambal gepuk for those who dare.

Speaking of spice, the restaurant lets you choose your heat level: Manja ️ for a mild touch, Tenang ️️ for moderate heat, and Padu ️️️ for the brave-hearted who crave that full Ayam Gepuk experience.

To cool down after all that fiery goodness, two beverages stand out, the Kopi Ais Kawww and Thai Green Tea Ais (RM4 each). The former offers a robust, aromatic caffeine punch, while the latter delivers creamy sweetness with a refreshing finish.

To celebrate its opening, Restoran Ayam Gepuk Pak’An is offering a special promotion — two Set Asli for only RM9.90, available on 28th, 29th, and 30th November 2025.
Opens daily from 11am to 10pm, the restaurant is poised to become Ipoh’s latest hotspot for comfort food that’s rich, spicy, and deeply satisfying. Whether you’re a first-timer curious about Ayam Gepuk or a long-time fan, Pak’An promises an experience that’s both fiery and full of heart.
