Wow! What a unique event it was when three major cultures and traditions of Malaysia were blended together for a charity beauty pageant. The contest saw the simultaneous crowning of Miss Kebaya, Miss Saree and Miss Cheongsam.
Organised by the Kinta Cultural & Tourism Association for the 13th year, the proceeds raised from the occasion were donated to needy non-profit organisations. This year’s beneficiaries were the Perak Association for Intellectually Disabled and Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA).
The 18 contestants, six each in kebaya, saree and cheaongsam categories, ranged in age from 17 to 58. All of them had their own fan base as evident from the rousing cheers they received during the self-introductory round.
The contestants were narrowed down to the top two finalists for each category, and then they were once again judged for their eloquence during the Question & Answer session.
After some tense moments, the winners were declared and the queens were crowned by Claris Chook, Mrs Malaysia Asia International 2016 “Timeless Beauty”. And the victors were: Miss Kebaya Nur Zuraina, Miss Saree K. Uma Mageswary and Miss Cheongsam Sandra Liew.
Each of them took home a tiara, sash, trophy and cash. Congratulations to all the winners!
