It was an evening of joy and much revellery among family and close friends during the mass reunion dinner hosted at Syeun Hotel Ipoh on Chinese New Year’s Eve.
Hosted for the eighth consecutive year by the hotel, yesterday’s “family reunion dinner” saw family members coming from all corners of the world to observe age-old tradition of getting together for a once-a-year reunion to welcome the Spring Festival.
In these modern times, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get together. Even though technology has made the world somewhat borderless, there is nothing like being together, even for just one meal, one festive season.
Getting together over good food, Syeun Hotel Ipoh’s reunion dinner is unlike any other offered by restaurants in town because it takes the joyous occasion a couple of notches higher, when all these families celebrate together as one.
There is nothing better than performing the symbolic “prosperity toss” simultaneously with numerous families. Good things must be shared, as the saying goes.
Moreover, every dinner table received two complimentary family photos courtesy of the hotel. It’s not always the whole family can be together, so that’s an added bonus!
The reunion dinners at Syeun Hotel Ipoh are always fun-filled, with entertainment and stage performances on the get-go. This year’s highlights were The Legendary 8 Immortals, 5 Gods of Prosperity and appearance of the dog mascot that symbolises the arrival of the Year of the Dog for 2018.
While visiting every table, the Gods of Prosperity distributed angpows (red packets) to signify the spread of wealth and good fortune to all diners. Heng ah! Ong ah! Huat ah!
These are definitely good reasons reunion dinners are better celebrated out of the home, don’t you think so?
