Malaysia IT Fair being held for three days at Stadium Indera Mulia, Ipoh, Perak, is a modest “fair” with anti-virus software, Kaspersky Lab, as the main sponsor. Therefore, you can expect a lot of promotion of the software, and not so much of hardware.
When I was there a while ago, there was a competition going on between groups of students who presented sketches on why a good anti-virus software is essential in protecting our computer systems. Unfortunately, most of them could not even pronounce the name of their sponsor, Kaspersky. Therefore, I felt that the messages that they tried to convey were not as effective as they could be.

I managed to shoot a video of one of the sketches by a group who called themselves Quick Legends. I think this is one of the better entries.
As for hardware, vendors are mainly promoting laptops and Made-in-China tablet PCs. At a glance, I saw Macsonic, Infinity and MaxQ tablet PCs. Other products promoted include Apple iPad 2, speakers, mp3 players, printers, laptop bags and other accessories. Nothing out of the ordinary for me.
Ipoh’s Malaysia IT Fair was officiated by Perak State Executive Council Member, Y.B. Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon, earlier this morning.
