MAH (Perak) in Aid of Flood Victims in Senggang
The Malaysian Association of Hotels (Perak Chapter) rallied its members recently in aid of flood victims in Perak. A total of RM10,000 was collected to purchase essentials and donated to the Flood Relief Centre in Senggang.
The items, such as rice, noodles, biscuits, mineral water, diapers, blankets and clothing were transported by a 5-tonne lorry.
Participating hotels included iBis Styles Ipoh, Impiana Hotel Ipoh, Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites, Grand Kampar Hotel, Tower Regency Hotel & Apartments, Excelsior Hotel Ipoh, Casuarina@Meru and Symphony Suites.
Said Kamarudin Kassim, Chairman of MAH Perak Chapter and General Manager of Impiana Hotel Ipoh, “Our deepest sympathies to all who are affected by the flood. As a mark of respect, we have cancelled our New Year countdown celebration.”
According to Mohd. Ibrahim, a volunteer in charge of food preparation at the flood relief centre in Senggang, there are 17 families temporarily roughing out at the centre, while 20 other families have put up at the mosque across the road.
He added, “We prepare daily meals for more than 400 persons.”
