London 2012 Olympics: Free Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream

Despite Malaysia’s failure to bring home an Olympic gold medal, Media Prima Bhd, through its Olympics initiative, Impian Emas Negara, still treated Malaysians to a scoop each of Baskin-Robbins ice cream. This was made available at all 61 BR outlets nationwide, except for two kiosks; Pantai Hospital in Bangsar and Genting Theme Park in Genting Highlands.

Ipoh has two Baskin-Robbins outlets; one in Kinta City and the other in AEON Ipoh Station 18 Shopping Centre. I was at Kinta City to be a busybody and to see if I could get myself a free scoop of ice cream, but the queue put me off. It was long when I arrived at 7.15pm but by 7.45pm, the queue had snaked its way to the front of the food court.

I thought I would have a better chance after 8.30pm but the crowd got worse! Not only were people queuing for the free ice cream at the Baskin-Robbins outlet, cars were queued up outside, waiting to enter the parking area of Kinta City! Duh! Enough! I left…
