Ipoh Chin Woo 88th Anniversary Celebration
Ipoh Chinese Chin Woo Athletic Association celebrated their 88th anniversary with a sumptuous dinner on an evening steep in Chinese culture at Wisma Chin Woo on Saturday. Guest-of-honour was Dato’ Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, Second Finance Minister of Malaysia.
In his opening address, Ipoh Chin Woo President Dato’ Ooi Foh Sing shared with guests the spirit of Chin Woo, and how for the past 88 years, the association in Ipoh had worked hard to develop sports, to keep Chinese culture alive and to service the community through various charity programmes. Top priorities of Ipoh Chin Woo include promoting filial piety, self-discipline and love for family, society and country.
A healthy person is a happy person. Therefore, Ipoh Chin Woo train teams in wushu, athletics and softball, representing the state and country. Wisma Chin Woo along Jalan Hussein, Ipoh, is the main training centre for wushu, lion and dragon dance, as well as Chinese cultural dance.
Every year, Ipoh Chin Woo organise or participate in various cultural programmes, including Chinese New Year celebrations and Citrawarna Perak to promote tourism in the state.
