Farewell Gathering for Odi, President Kelab Sukan & Kebajikan Media Perak (KSKMP)
It was a farewell gathering, not a party, as departing from friends who are like family is never easy. That’s the feeling we all had with Club President Wan Asrudi Wan Hasan (Odi) being transferred to the Harian Metro bureau, Kuala Lumpur in a few days’ time.
The gathering, jointly organised by KSKMP and P.O.R.T., was graced by P.O.R.T board of governors member Dato’ Zainol Fadzi Paharudin who is also Perak State ExCo, along with club adviser Datuk Akmar Hisham Mokhles, the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary.
Odi, although Kelantanese, was schooled in Ipoh until Form Five, so Ipoh is as good as home. Joining Harian Metro, he was seconded to Ipoh as reporter. Two years later, he was promoted as Harian Metro Ipoh bureau chief. Harian Metro is part of the NSTP Group.
Despite his busy schedule, Odi assumed the role of President at Kelab Sukan & Kebajikan Media Perak (English: Perak Media Sports and Welfare Club) in 2014, and gamely faced the challenges that came his way. Through his leadership, the club grew from strength to strength. With support from government sector, private corporations and NGOs, this organisation is one of the more active press clubs in the country.
Core activities of the club include reaching out to underprivileged communities through charity initiatives, forging ties among media practitioners through sports and of course, promoting Perak as a tourist destination.
Under the helm of Odi, KSKMP undertook overseas missions to Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Jordan as well as Palestine. With Odi’s transfer from Perak, hopefully his successor will be just as dynamic. He (or she) certainly has huge shoes to fill.

Well I believe this gonna be the great gathering and being apart doesn’t mean goodbye forever and more reunion gathering coming up. Love to see on how they appreciate each other.
