Malaysia had to keep a respectable score in order to play Australia in the final. Australia had been scoring an average of 6 goals per game thus far and had conceded only one goal until this match.
In the previous game between Korea and Australia, Korea scored a goal via a hotly contested penalty corner.
Although Malaysia lost, they were the only team who managed to score twice against Australia, and it was no surprise that the mighty Aussies weren’t very happy about it!
Malaysia’s two goals were also from penalty corners, at the 61st and 70th minute, and that’s only because Australia were two men down!
