2024 Malaysia International Marching Arts Championships (MIMAC)
Victoria Institution from Kuala Lumpur triumphed spectacularly at the Malaysia International Marching Arts Championships 2024 (MIMAC 2024), outshining 17 other bands to claim the top spot in the Field Parade competition. With an impressive score of 86.8%, their performance was nothing short of extraordinary.
The championship, held for the first time in Ipoh, at Stadium Perak, drew an amazing array of competitors, including competing bands from China and Indonesia.
The distinguished judges were Dana Difilippantonio, representing both the USA and Vietnam; Shiho Kondo from Japan; and Pirun Jehwong from Thailand. Their scrutiny encompassed a range of performance aspects, from the intricacies of music performance — such as musicality, tone quality, and expression — to the finesse of visual performance, which highlighted marching precision, drill design, besides body carriage.
The judges also assessed the overall impact of the bands, including theme and concept, emotion and entertainment value, as well as showmanship, while noting penalties for timing discrepancies and performance errors.
SMJK Nan Hwa from Perak followed as the runner-up, with UiTM Shah Alam from Selangor securing third place.
