Thousands of warm-hearted people were at New She Lai Ton Restaurant in Ipoh recently for the annual charity dinner of Ipoh Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA). Held for the 29th year since 1985, this annual fund-raising dinner is aimed at collection of funds to support the animal shelter at Jalan Gopeng, Ipoh, which requires RM20,000 monthly to manage.
Currently home to approximately 270 dogs and 80 cats, 80kg of food is needed daily to feed these animals at the shelter.
Besides feasting on an 8-course sit-down dinner, guests were entertained with stage performances that included energetic dances by Susan Dance Academy and My Dancesport Studio and also singing. To raise even more funds for the cause, lucky dip tickets were collected at RM2 each which entitled the holders to participate in a lucky draw. Among the prizes were branded watches, pizzas, cakes, hampers and a bottle of liquor.
The generosity of pet lovers saw the total amount raised through the sale of dinner and lucky dip tickets, increased with cash donations of RM10,000 from EL Lye, RM5000 from the Lions Club of Subang Jaya, as well as RM2,500 and RM2,000 from anonymous donors.
I.S.P.C.A., a non-profit organisation, continues to welcome public donations in cash or kind. For further information, check out the Facebook Page of I.S.P.C.A.
