If you follow my blog closely, you will know that I am a shopaholic. I make no secret about the fact that I am a shopping addict but if I compare myself to my friends, having an average of two packages delivered to me per week, I am not that much of an addict at all!
The addiction is not so much from shopping per se but in unwrapping, even though I paid for my own purchases and I already know what items are inside the packages. I have had my ups and downs with my hauls, mainly joy.
I was researching about shopping from USA recently and realised that not all vendors ship to Malaysia. Do we have such a negative reputation?
I used to buy from Amazon and eBay regularly but I want to explore beyond these platforms. I was recommended Uclick2buy.com – the homepage looks unassuming but whoa, it is the gateway to shopping online at more than 50,000 merchants from the US and China.
How so, you may ask? Registering with Uclick2buy.com (it’s free), I am assigned two personalised addresses; one in Oregon, USA and another in Guangzhou, China.
I actually also have a personalised Singapore address but because Uclick2buy.com allows for direct shipping from their warehouses in USA and China to my Malaysian address, it is not necessary for me to use my personalised address in Singapore. Two other countries that enjoy this direct shipping privilege are Vietnam and the Philippines.
What is the advantage of having a personalised address? As I have mentioned above, not all vendors ship to Malaysia.
They have their reasons and we don’t question their business decision – only because we can work around that limitation with a personalised address. We may live in Malaysia, or some other country, but we can still shop from an American or Chinese merchant as though we were a local.
As you can see from the screenshots I have enclosed in this post, I shopped at Kate Spade New York, an American fashion design house.
I chose the Cameron Street Holly bag and it clearly stated (in red) that the item may only ship to addresses within the United States and Puerto Rico. However, after I had entered my Uclick2buy.com personalised USA address into my address book, I had no issue checking out my shopping cart.
But what if the vendor or merchant does not accept a Malaysian-issued credit card? Don’t worry. You can always get UClick2Buy.com to make that purchase on your behalf for a small fee. This is Uclick2buy.com’s personal shopper service.
Anyway, when you check out from any store, remember to key in your Uclick2buy.com personalised shipping address. This is very important as all packages are identified according to personalised addresses.
Once we have placed an order with the US/China merchant, forward the invoice to Uclick2buy.com, and include all necessary information should we consolidate our packages from other merchants from the same country.
When our packages have arrived at Uclick2buy.com’s warehouse in the US or China, we will be notified of the shipping charges, service fee, Sales Tax (USA address is tax-free), import duty, etc.
If we consolidate our packages, we will only be charged for the first kilogramme once. This means that the more we consolidate, the more we save. There is NO consolidation fee.
After we have made payment to Uclick2buy.com, our parcel will be delivered within 4 – 6 business days. Our parcel is traceable from our membership control panel.
By the way, Uclick2buy.com runs promotions the whole year through, which means even greater savings on their already competitive shipping rates when you shop from an international store based in USA or China, from consolidating your packages, to having them shipped to your local address in Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam or the Philippines.
Uclick2buy.com is currently running an extended Black Friday promotion which offers all Malaysian shoppers 50% off their shipping rates from USA. The coupon code to use is BLACKFRIDAYMY and it is only valid until 31st Dec, 2016. So, hurry!
