I rushed over to Dataran MBI yesterday after participating in the 1/2-day ‘Self-Drive in Thailand’ Workshop organised by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to attend the Subaru Ipoh Shijo Carnival & Classic Car Gathering.
I arrived just in the nick of time to take photos of these classic car beauties. It was raining cats and dogs but that did not deter me from the task at hand.
In conjunction with the Subaru Ipoh Shijo Carnival, almost 70 classic (and vintage) cars from the Malaysia Singapore Vintage Car Register (MSVCR) and Perak Classic Car Club (PCCC) participated in the car gathering. They were joined in by four classic cars from the personal collection of DYTM Raja Muda Perak, Raja Jaafar ibni Almarhum Raja Muda Musa.
In the morning, 54 of these cars went in a convoy from Symphony Suites Hotel where they put up a night, to the Petron Station in Chepor. After a short joy ride around town, they converged at Dataran MBI, until about 2.30pm.
During the Subaru Ipoh Shijo Carnival, there was a gymkhana competition as well as an opportunity to take the new Subaru Shijo on a test drive, which I missed. Luckily, I can always test drive the Subaru Shijo. Do you want to take it for a spin as well?
