New Generation Sun Heng @ Canning Garden
Sun Heng was a coffee shop that I visited regularly growing up in Canning Garden, but hadn’t lately. Some months ago, the old school kopitiam was upgraded to a modern eatery with an Oriental theme, named merely Sun Heng instead of its original Kedai Kopi dan Restoran Sun Heng.
This new Sun Heng is managed by a new generation of Auntie Foong’s daughters and features an extensive delicious menu, for breakfast and lunch as they operate from 7am until 3pm daily only.
With a new menu, obviously comes a fresh flavour. Still as popular is the Sun Heng Special Curry Noodles (topped with chicken slices, roasted pork, char siew, cockles, pork skin, prawns and fried bean curd skin) and its premium Sun Heng Jumbo Curry Noodles (scallops, prawns, clams, squids, cockles, pork skin, chicken, roasted pork and char siew).
Besides rice and noodle items, Sun Heng also offers dim sum, pork-free version, although this is NOT a pork-free eatery. Also, a new addition compared to Auntie Foong’s time is a special set lunch. Yesterday’s special set lunch was Kam Heong Fish Fillet with rice. This set came with a bowl of seaweed soup and lady’s fingers, at a reasonable RM11.60.
For the full menu, visit the official Sun Heng Curry Noodles Facebook Page. Since we are encouraged to stay safe at home during this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, Sun Heng provides food delivery also, and it is free for minimum orders of RM60, to the following neighbourhoods: Canning Garden, Ipoh Garden, Simee and Greentown.
Here’s sharing photos of our lunch yesterday.
