Iskandar Polo Club (IPC), named after its founder Sultan Iskandar of Perak, was first established in 1923. It is one of the oldest polo clubs in the country, and relocated from Dairy Road to its current location in Ampang Baru, Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia in the early 1970s. The idyllic setting here gives the club a resort feel.
Polo used to be an exclusive sport, played by royals, not only in Malaysia, but also worldwide. However, it is beginning to be played by more and more people, either because we are more affluent now, or the sport is not as expensive to participate in. Haha! It still looks like a sport for the upper classes, though! Ordinary membership fee at the Iskandar Polo Club is RM1050 annually, with monthly subscription of RM15. Those who stable their horses here pay more.
Currently, Iskandar Polo Club is open for booking for private functions. It’s most suited for corporate family days, birthdays, even weddings. The surrounding limestone hills make a great backdrop for filming as well.
