During my 3D/2N solo trip to the capital city, Kuala Lumpur last month, I put up for two nights at Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel.
I was excited because the hotel is located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, within walking distance to the shopping mecca of Bukit Bintang, eating strip of Jalan Alor, the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers, as well as the social scene of Changkat Bukit Bintang.
Travelling alone and depending on public transport, I spent a lot of time walking to these three areas, only ten minutes away at different directions.
Just check my blog posts this past couple of weeks, where I dined at Cielo KL 希洛天空海鲜馆, and visited three attractions at PETRONAS Twin Towers and KLCC area: SkyBridge, Petrosains and Aquaria. Of course, how could I pass up on the opportunity to shop at Pavilion?
Although I walked to these places of interest, one has to take the usual precautions when moving about – stay alert of your surroundings and take a cab if necessary. There are plenty parked outside the hotel, ready to ferry guests to their respective destinations.
Another plus point for me is that Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur City Centre is just a short walk from the Raja Chulan Monorail Station. Just hop on the monorail to explore further, or get down at an interchange station to switch to the LRT or other modes of public transport.
For guests who do not mind the tropical heat or unpredictable weather, they can also opt for a ride on the oBike. Conveniently, there is a docking station in front of the hotel.
Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur City Centre is part of the InterContinental Hotels Group. This particular international hotel boasts 383 smartly-appointed guests rooms to cater to savvy business and leisure travellers who are looking for a convenient location, without compromising on value or comfort.
Complimentary breakfast is included at the Great Room, but those who are pressed for time in the morning can still start the day right with the free Grab & Go breakfast option.
While I appreciated the free high speed internet connectivity during my stay, as well as free use of the Handy phone smart device, as a local myself, I have my own mobile internet line and smartphone. I can imagine how useful these facilities could be for international guests.
Those staying at Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur City Centre also have complimentary use of a 24-hour fitness centre, accessible via the room key card. Additionally, this hotel provides a self-service laundry facility, whereby the washing machine and dryer operate on tokens of RM10. The iron and ironing board are also available for free use at the laundry room.
As a non-fussy traveller, I had a comfortable stay at Holiday Inn Express Kuala Lumpur City Centre. I opine, even for fastidious guests, there is really nothing to complain about. Would I return for a second stay? Yes, should I plan to explore this area again, or anywhere along the monorail line.
