ESG-Inspired Corporate Green Bonding with Genting Nature Adventures: Ouji Seiyaku’s Silver Jubilee Celebration
For Ouji Seiyaku, a company that lives by the tagline “Building Aesthetic, Creating Excellence,” its 25th anniversary was an opportunity to honour its journey with impact.

Bringing together 450 employees from global offices in Japan, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, and Malaysia, among other countries, the company turned to Genting Nature Adventures (GNA) for a retreat that would offer more than team bonding. It was a way to celebrate meaningfully, reflect on their values, and engage with nature while reinforcing their commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

What Is GNA’s Corporate Green Bonding Programme?
More than just another team-building event, GNA’s Corporate Green Bonding Programme is a purpose-driven experience designed to foster camaraderie, promote environmental responsibility, and deepen a company’s commitment to sustainability. It offers organisations a meaningful way to fulfil their ESG objectives through immersive, nature-based learning and hands-on activities that leave a lasting impact on both Mother Earth and the ecosystems she supports.
This half-day session was structured into three parts, each lasting more or less 45 minutes:
1. Simulation games that mirror workplace dynamics and challenges
2. Growing verges (habitat planting) to support biodiversity
3. A nature appreciation walk to reconnect with the environment
And with facilitation by certified HRDC and ESG trainers, the experience is HRDC claimable for Malaysians.
In this Ouji Seiyaku event, due to the large number of participants, the group was divided into three sub-groups.

Part 1: Lessons from Hollywood — With a Twist
The morning kicked off with a high-energy simulation experience led by Mr Eddie Chan, Department Manager of Genting Nature Adventures. His approach was ingenious: he drew inspiration from Hollywood blockbusters, each game carrying the theme and tagline of a famous movie, cleverly adapted to reflect real-world corporate lessons.

1st game: Chaos – “All for One, One for All”
Participants were split into small teams. One member from each team was blindfolded and tasked with retrieving specific coloured blocks in an arena, guided only by the shouted directions of their teammates, all while music blasted in the background.

The takeaway? This loud, chaotic environment mirrored today’s fast-paced world, where the loudest voices often win attention, whether or not they lead in the right direction. It was a call to reflect: who do we listen to, and are we truly tuned in to what matters?
2nd game: Mission Impossible – “Your Best is Yet to Come”
Wearing oversized long clogs, team members had to synchronise and make a complete turn. The first attempt was usually messy, but that was the point.

The lesson: Even if a team completes a task in record time, there’s always room for improvement. The potential is not fixed. With encouragement and practice, we can always do better. It’s about progress, not perfection.
3rd game: National Treasure – “The Clues Are in Front of You”
In this brain-teaser, teams had to unlock a box secured with not one, but two padlocks, only to find another puzzle hidden inside the receptacle.

The insight: Solutions are often right in front of us, but it takes collaboration and communication to piece them together. As the saying goes, two heads are better than one, and teamwork is the ultimate key.
4th game: Next: What’s Next?
Each group was given a set of puzzle pieces and challenged to form a square. But one piece, a black square, didn’t quite fit. Or did it?

The outcome: This puzzle encouraged lateral thinking and hands-on experimentation. It highlighted the importance of being adaptable, thinking differently, and knowing when to break away from conventional approaches.
These games were more than fun diversions. They were reflective, impactful, and packed with insights. There were no winners or losers, only shared experiences and life lessons to carry back to both the office and daily life.

Part 2: Giving Back — One Plant at a Time
After the mental exercise came the physical one: Growing Verges, GNA’s signature habitat-planting activity.

A carefully selected slope near the trail was set aside for Ouji Seiyaku to plant 300 verges, contributing to the restoration of Functional Living Habitat (FLH) areas to support endangered species like Siamangs, monkeys, and forest birds.

This initiative aligns with Resorts World Awana’s sustainable landscape strategy to plant on verges (the edges and sides of roads and paths) as a way to rebuild habitat corridors and increase biodiversity.
The planting was more than symbolic. It was guided by a thoughtful scheme:
.

Ouji Seiyaku’s top bosses, who originally planned to only observe from the sidelines, were so moved by the gesture that they too stepped forward and planted pine trees themselves, leading by action, not just words.

Part 3: A Walk Through Wonder
With the planting done, participants embarked on a peaceful Nature Appreciation Walk, exploring parts of the Awana Trail and the picturesque Nikon Mile Long Gallery. It was a time to unwind, reflect, and absorb the beauty of the forest around them.

The timing couldn’t have been better, as the weather remained comfortably overcast, without a hint of sun or rain. Only later in the evening did the rain clouds roll in, sparing the participants and making the morning feel like it was perfectly meant to be.
A Fitting Finale
After hours of learning, labour, and laughter, the group was treated to a scrumptious buffet lunch at the courtyard of the shopping mall for nature lovers. For dessert, everyone was served the most fragrant durians, adding a truly Malaysian flavour to wrap up the event.

Through simulation, sustainability, and shared experience, Ouji Seiyaku’s 25th-anniversary 2-day Malaysian retreat at Resorts World Awana became a milestone that honoured the past while actively investing in the future. It also proved that GNA’s Corporate Green Bonding Programme isn’t just a programme. It’s a movement that creates real change, unites people with purpose, and cultivates memories that endure long after the final photo has been taken.
