Cashless Payment at Ramadan Bazaars in Ipoh
Under the Ipoh Smart City Smart Economy initiative, the Ipoh City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh – MBI), has partnered with Maybank to offer cashless payment at Ramadan bazaars in the city.
The e-wallet programme, which utilises Maybank’s MAE app, is to encourage the adoption of digital transactions for every purchase or payment.
With the tagline “MAE-mang Boleh Raya”, customers at Ipoh Ramadan bazaars needn’t carry cash with them. In general, using e-Wallets for cashless payment also speeds up transactions as well as reduce risk of fraudulent transactions with trackable spending records.
During the “MAE-mang Boleh Raya” campaign, to further encourage the usage of MAE e-wallet, attractive rebates are being offered.
At the launch of the campaign at Stadium Indera Mulia Ramadan bazaar on 13th April, Ipoh City Mayor Y.Bhg. Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin said, “This is a quick-win step in the implementation of the Ipoh Smart City project. Customers who pay using MAE app enjoy a 20% discount for every two purchases.
“Moreover, the stall that records the highest number of sales for the week qualifies for a RM500 cash prize, while the stall with highest overall number of sales qualifies for the RM1,500 grand prize.
Ramadan bazaars (Pasar Ramadan) operate under strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) as set by the National Security Council (NSC).
This will help people to still enjoy buying their food from Ramadhan Bazaar but at the same time doing their best to observe the SOP.
