Ngawang Gelek Namgyal, also known as Sey Rinpoche, is the third lineage holder and great grandson of Togdan Shakya Shri Rinpoche.
Togdan Shakya Shri (1853 – 1919) was an accomplished master of the Mahamudra and Dzogchen traditions. He was recognised as one of the 25 accomplished disciples of Guru Padmasambhava.
From HE Apho Rinpoche, Sey Rinpoche received the discourse on the complete teachings of Togdan Shakya Shri, which included transmission of the eighteen Texts of Chibri, the Mahamudra Practice of Kunga Tenzin. Twenty Two Anujna, thirteen Deities of Akshobiya, Spontaneous Appearance of Chakrasambhava, the Extensive Vajra Yogini Empowerment, Six Buddha Family Empowerment, Kilaya, etc.
Sey Rinpoche continued to receive empowerment and teachings from Khamtrul Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Thuksey Rinpoche, Adhey Rinpoche and Lopon Sonam Zangpo, a close student of Togdan Shakya Shri.
From him, Sey Rinpoche received teachings of Six Yoga of Naropa and various other Whispered Transmissions of Togdan Shakya Shri in Bhutan.
At the end of Sey Rinpoche’s training, Lopon Sonam Zangpo told him, “Now, you are the holder of my transmissions. Now that you have heard them all, I will have no regret when I, an old man, die.”
