3rd IPOH International Waiters Race

Three hundred participants took up the challenge to be the best waiter/waitress in the 3rd IPOH International Waiters Race hosted at the Lost World of Tambun, Ipoh. The race, organised by Malaysian Association of Hotels (Perak Chapter) was flagged off by guest-of-honour YB Dato’ Nolee Ashilin bt. Dato’ Mohammed Radzi, Perak State Executive Councillor & Chairperson for Tourism, Arts & Culture.

This year’s race, which was also divided into three categories, managed to attract six entries from Japan and seven from Medan, Indonesia. Other participants were from the rest of Malaysia, besides Perak. Major hotels in Ipoh were represented.

Raced over a distance of 1.1km around the Lost World of Tambun theme park, winners were determined based on speed and steadiness of hand, as judged by the water level in the two glasses and a bottle of water.

The three categories were Classic Tray (opened to professionals working in hotels), Sportive Tray (for quick service waiters and waitresses as well as students in hospitality institutions) and Fun Tray (opened to the public).
