ISPCA Festival 2012

The effort to raise funds for ISPCA (animal shelter in Ipoh) brought Gerakan Belia Bersatu Malaysia (GBBM), Happy Pawz Pet Care Centre, Malaysian Kennel Association (MKA), Hup Fatt Pets and Coway together to organise ISPCA Festival 2012. It was held in Festival Walk, a potential Food & Beverage centre in Ipoh.
Besides the usual food fair, there were children’s colouring contest, pet beauty contest and Petkathon (pet walkathon), which should more appropriately be called “Dogathon”, and also a display of Volkswagen Beetles and Kombis in support of the day’s event.
As expected, Festival Walk was a hive of activity. ISPCA fund-raisers have always been well-received by the people of Ipoh; what more when there were so many other programmes lined up that morning.
Noah’s Ark Ipoh, who is managing the cattery at ISPCA, was there with some kittens, hoping to get new homes for them. Did you know that one female cat can cause the birth of 420,000 kittens in 7 years?
Anyway, in addition to raising funds for ISPCA and rehoming animals at the shelter, the objective of ISPCA Festival 2012 was also to create awareness in pet adoption, instead of buying, and to control reproduction, instead of putting them to sleep.
