Fellowship in the Forest: Nature Learning with Like-Minded Friends at BERSVC
Stepping into the Biodiversity, Education, Research, Sustainability, and Visitor Centre (BERSVC), you quickly realise this isn’t your average visitor centre.
It’s not a place to pick up a brochure, snap a photo, and leave. Instead, BERSVC is a living, breathing hub where curiosity is encouraged, conversations flow freely, and nature enthusiasts find a home away from home.

Formerly known as the GNA Base Camp, this newly transformed space is now the beating heart of Genting Nature Adventures (GNA). Whether you’re a family on a holiday, a student with a love for science, or simply someone who enjoys a good “lepak” with purpose, BERSVC is designed for you.
L.E.P.A.K.: Learn, Engage, Participate, Appreciate, Kinship
Here, “lepak” doesn’t mean idly passing the time. At BERSVC, it means connecting with like-minded people, expanding your knowledge, exchanging ideas, and asking the questions you’ve always wondered about.
The space radiates a positive ambience, with comfy corners that invite lingering. You’ll be greeted by warm smiles everywhere – from the scientists explaining their latest findings, to the management team ensuring things run smoothly, right down to the odd job workers who keep the place welcoming for all.
It’s not just a facility; it’s a hangout spot for educators, experts, scientists, and nature lovers to meet, mingle, and learn together.
Bringing the Outdoors Indoors
Not every visitor can join guided hikes or outdoor adventures, and that’s okay. BERSVC offers an immersive indoor alternative that’s just as enriching.
By bringing the outdoors indoors, hear bird calls triggered by motion-sensor speakers, or use the Smart Forest app to identify plants and wildlife through visual recognition.

Whether it’s at the Broadcast Studio, Bistro Studio, or Greenhouse Studio, all within BERSVC, live broadcasts, interactive exhibits, and research showcases allow you to explore the biodiversity of Genting Highlands without lacing up your hiking boots.
A Space for Every Explorer
BERSVC is about inspiring different kinds of connections with nature. Each of its three studios has a unique role to play.
Broadcast Studio – Think of this as the voice of Genting Nature Adventures. From here, GNA produces livestreams, interviews, and real-time environmental updates that reach audiences on-site and around the world.

Scientists and field experts share insights, stories, and discoveries, turning complex research into engaging narratives. It’s the place where the forest is made accessible to anyone, anywhere.
Bistro Studio – A café-style hangout with a difference. The Bistro Studio is designed for conversations over coffee. This is where visitors can sit back in a friendly, relaxed setting and join informal chit-chat sessions that encourage curiosity and exchange.

Don’t miss this chance to connect with like-minded people, ask questions, and gain fresh perspectives over a warm cuppa.
Greenhouse Studio – Dedicated to the Young Pioneers for Nature, this space is tailored for kids and young explorers, where workshops, storytelling sessions, and hands-on activities spark imagination and nurture a love for the natural world.

Greenhouse Studio aims to encourage children to become the next generation of environmental guardians.
Together, these three studios transform BERSVC into a vibrant hub where knowledge, fellowship, and discovery come alive in ways that suit every kind of explorer – from seasoned scientists to curious kids.
Creating Bio-Knowledgeable Vacationers (CBKVs)
GNA’s mission is clear: to “Create Bio-Knowledgeable Vacationers” – people who enjoy their holiday but also leave with a deeper understanding of the environment. BERSVC makes this possible through:
.
Educating a Million Visitors
GNA’s vision is bold: to educate one million visitors. With 38,000 already reached and a target of 100,000 by June 2026, the team is moving fast.

Fresh initiatives are already in the pipeline. The Hiking School for Kids, led by seasoned mountaineer Ravi Everest, will introduce young adventurers to the joy of exploring nature safely.

A Nature Journal for Kids, created in collaboration with Quilljoy Endeavours, will inspire children to document and reflect on their discoveries.
Soon, visitors will also be able to join Chit-chat with Scientists sessions – informal coffee meet-ups where experts share fascinating stories from the field.
Extending the Experience into the Night
To make room for more activities and meaningful encounters, BERSVC is preparing to extend its opening hours from the current 8am–5pm to 8am–10pm.
Two staff shifts will keep operations running smoothly, and more team members will be welcomed to meet the growing demand.
Whether you want to identify a bird call, chat with a scientist over coffee, or meet fellow nature lovers in a friendly setting, BERSVC offers something truly unique.
It’s a place where you can enjoy the calm of a forest without leaving the building and where every conversation can lead to a new idea or a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
By bringing technology, storytelling, and hands-on learning, BERSVC redefines how we experience biodiversity and become a knowledge-based tourist.
BERSVC reminds us that conservation is not only about protecting landscapes, it’s also about creating spaces where people and ideas can grow.
As GNA continues to nurture this spirit of shared learning and kinship, it will spark a million stories of people who see the natural world in new ways, long before it welcomes a million visitors.
