World Toilet Day 2019 National Level Competition

Congratulations to Ipoh City Council for bagging six out of twelve categories contested for cleanest public restrooms, in conjunction with World Toilet Day 2019 National Level competition held at Stadium Indera Mulia last Saturday.

The main criterion assessed by the competition panel is the overall cleanliness aspect as set out in the Star Rating Cleanliness of Public Toilet Sanitation Guidelines in Local Authorities.

The 6 categories won were:

1st place in Public Toilet Category of Local Authorities (City / Municipality) at Jalan Dato’ Tahwil Azar,
1st place in primary school in Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanah Hitam,
1st place for eatery category at 22 Hale Street,
1st place in tourism category at Movie Animation Park Studios,
2nd place for house of worship at Kek Lok Tong cave temple,
3rd place at a fuel station along Jalan Kuala Kangsar.

This programme, organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Local Government through the Perak Local Government Department with the cooperation of the Ipoh City Council, was themed “Clean Toilet, Healthy Community”.

It was launched by YBM Senator Dato’ Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Ibni Raja Ahmad Baharuddin Shah, Deputy Minister of Housing & Local Government on Saturday, 26th January.

It was part of the Clean Toilet Campaign programme that has been implemented since 2010, which is aimed at creating awareness on the importance of clean, comfortable and safe toilet in everyday life.

According to Ipoh City Council Secretary Encik Mohd Zakuan Zakaria, teamwork is the key factor in the City Council’s high commitment in ensuring that public toilets under the Council’s administration achieve the standard of “model toilet” in Malaysia.
