According to YB Loh, there are currently 120 events on the Perak Calendar of Events 2024, with more to be added over time. These events, whether they are of state-level, national, or even international standing, should draw tourists to the state and keep them interested during their travels here. When addressing the long-standing concerns about the ‘Ipoh Airport,’ YB Loh stated that it is more realistic and logical to upgrade the existing Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, transforming it into a regional airport capable of accommodating flights with up to a 3-hour flight time.

As the Perak state government is working closely with Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), the upgrade programme is expected to commence in the middle of the year, without disrupting existing flight operations. Right now, there are three daily flights to Ipoh, from Johor Bahru and Singapore. “There is an urgent need for the upgrade, but it will be business as usual,” he stressed.

In view of the rising infection of COVID-19, YB Loh said, “We are cautious of the virus but not overly concerned. We are vigilant of the situation and will act according to guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health.”
