Universal Medicine Buddha Puja
Compared to Wesak Day, the recent Medicine Buddha puja at the Enlightened Heart Tibetan Buddhist Temple attracted a smaller crowd of only about 300 devotees.
Held annually, perhaps the smaller attendance was due to this year-end event coinciding with the long Deepavali weekend.
Conducted by disciples of the late Dorje Guru Ge Li, also known as Yong Sifu, the Universal Medicine Buddha mantra-cum-puja saw devotees being led to various sections of the temple complex.
Lotus candles were also lighted to pay homage to the Medicine Buddha, to seek good health, blessings and longevity.
Medicine packs were also offered to remove life’s obstacles.
After the prayers and mantras were completed, at approximately 12 noon, devotees hoisted a new, large Medicine Buddha thangka to the compound of the temple to sun it for the first time.
A delicious vegetarian lunch was then served, wrapping up this year’s Universal Medicine Buddha Puja at the temple.
