[Taman Burung] Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
After visiting the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park (Taman Rama-Rama Kuala Lumpur), my friend and I hopped over to the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park (Taman Burung Kuala Lumpur). It’s just a stone’s throw away, within walking distance. Actually, besides these two parks, there are other attractions in the vicinity. Off hand, I could only remember Orchid Garden (Taman Orchid). I would love visiting it too but time just didn’t permit that afternoon.
It was my first visit to the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park and I would say that there are more things to see in the Bird Park than in the Butterfly Park. HOWEVER, the Butterfly Park has a more refreshing environment compared to the Bird Park. The Bird Park actually stinks of “rotten papaya”. I guess with so many species of birds around feeding on papaya, corn and various other food, it is not easy to keep the park clean.
One thing you should arm yourself with when visiting the KL Bird Park is a hat or umbrella. You don’t want your holiday spoilt by getting hit on your head by bird droppings because of the many birds that fly overhead, right? Imagine how nervous I was as I was unprepared! I made sure there was no bird perched on the trees when I went for the shade!
Oh yes, a ticket to the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is MYR15 for Malaysian adults compared to MYR8 to the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park. If you ask me which one to choose to visit if you only have time for one park, I really cannot answer. Both parks have their own attractions.
But then here in the KL Bird Park, visitors could take photos with the birds, at a price, of course. There is a photo booth here where you could have photos of you and your family with parrots and owls perched on your shoulders and arms. If I remember correctly, it’s RM8 per photo session. Family shots are slightly more pricey.
