The highlights of Taiwan Glass Gallery are Golden Tunnel and Underwater World. As you can probably already imagine, the Golden Tunnel is a maze-like space that is surrounded by glasses and mirrors. The effect of seeing your own reflection everywhere you turn may cause dizziness, so tread with caution.

Visitors are required to take off their shoes and wear a pair of Japanese slippers (flip flops), as well as gloves, as they would need to feel their way around the tunnel, looking for the exit. From personal experience, this Glass Tunnel is not suitable for those who easily lose their equilibrium.

The other attraction, the World Under the Sea, is more “friendly” to one’s senses. If you have been to the Museum of Illusions, either in Kuala Lumpur or another world city, you would be able to spot similarities with some of the displays. Have fun with the mind-bending illusions with glass!

Within the building complex are various glass art-crafts, glassware and masterpieces. I understand that glass crafters would host demonstrations and workshops regularly to impart knowledge to members of the public who are craft enthusiasts.

Adjacent to the main complex within the same compound is the glass Mazu Temple, believed to be the only such structure in the world, made entirely with sheets of glass, except its pillars. This temple is an engineering feat, no less. What a wondrous sight to behold, especially at night when the lights are turned on.
