Support the Small Local Business Owners

My family had wanted to have lunch at a particular coffee shop in Ipoh Garden South but it was closed. So we dropped by at another eatery in the neighbourhood. Honestly, this COVID-19 lockdown is taking a toll on businesses and many can’t survive. That’s why we have dined out or ordered in, to support local businesses.

Thus, today’s post is about our lunch at this coffee shop by the name of Yee Heng, a corner shop that you can’t miss if you are near Ipoh Garden Plaza.

As with most coffee shops, there are food stalls offering various local food. Besides popular economy rice, you can find Hakka noodles, porridge, laksa, curry mee, lam mee, mee soup, chee cheong fun, Vietnamese food, pan mee, fried noodles, Western food, beef noodles, pau & dim sum, Nyonya kuih, nasi lemak and youtiao plus other snacks.

Yee Heng is almost similar to Lee Kitchen Restaurant. Both offer a variety of tong sui (糖水), which we love to wash down our food with.

You can see from the above photos that we ordered from different stalls, but curry noodles are a MUST. The curry from this stall is dissimilar to many others in town – it does not contain coconut milk (santan) or evaporated milk. Therefore, this special homemade recipe is suitable for those who are allergic to these ingredients.
