Spreading Valentine’s Day Love and Care to Child Patients at UMMC
Love comes in different forms and sizes. Although it should be celebrated daily, Valentine’s Day is a great time to express love more intensely, and even to people whom we do not know.
Therefore, Resorts World Genting (RWG) took this opportunity to distribute tokens of love to the child patients who are admitted at University Malaya Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
The entourage of management, staff, Frankie the Clown, Tabby the Tiger and Allie the Elephant, led by Puan Sri Cecilia Lim, wife of Genting Malaysia Berhad chairman Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, bore gifts, angpows as is customary during Chinese New Year and most importantly, a great dose of cheer.
“Reaching out to children in the community is one of the causes that is very near and dear to my heart. I hope that our gesture today will be a memorable one for the children and will help in some part for their speedy recovery,” said Puan Sri Cecilia during the visit.
The 150 children, from month-old babies to adolescents, were admitted in hospital with diseases such as various forms of cancer, diabetes and dengue fever. Despite their illness, they broke into smiles when greeted by the official mascots of the Skytropolis Funland indoor theme park at Resorts World Genting, Tabby and Allie, along with Frankie the Clown.
Tabby the Tiger sporting bright orange and red stripes was in a bright red samfoo while Allie the Elephant looked adorable with a tuft of purple hair, glasses and a crimson cheongsam.
Meanwhile, Frankie the Clown was busy sculpting balloons into an assortment of animal shapes for the children, putting them in stitches with his funny antics.
Colouring books, colouring pencil sets, and KFC set meals were also personally distributed by Puan Sri Cecilia Lim, accompanied by Ms Katherine Chew, RWG Vice President of Resort Communications and Public Relations.
In conjunction with the ongoing Chinese New Year festival, angpow, mandarin oranges and delectable pineapple tarts crafted by chefs of RWG were also presented to the nurses of the respective wards.
Dr. Azriyanti Anuar Zaini, Consultant Paediatrician-cum-Paediatric Endocrinologist of the Department of Paediatrics, University Malaya Medical Centre was on hand to introduce the patients and staff.
At the end of the visit, everyone indeed had an unforgettable Valentine’s Day this year!
