Soaring into the Year of the Dragon
Carlsberg made a stop in Ipoh recently as part of its nationwide campaign to spread vitality and happiness in the country, as we usher in the Year of the Dragon in a few days’ time. The campaign was launched two weeks ago at the Thean Hou temple in Kuala Lumpur, where the ‘Flying Dragon’, measuring 118 feet in length, was unveiled.
In Ipoh, where the event was held in front of Hotel Excelsior, the ‘Flying Dragon’ unfortunately, failed to make an appearance. Instead, Carlsberg fittingly brought in its 4.5m tall green dragon, which was formed by hundreds of Carlsberg beer bottles. Chinese Affairs adviser to Perak Menteri Besar cum Perak Gerakan chief Y.B. Dato’ Chang Ko Youn was the guest of honour.
Besides a double-lion dance performance, eight Fook Stars made an appearance, bringing festive cheer to staff of the hotel, guests and passersby.
After Ipoh, Team Carlsberg continued with their roadshow, covering key regional markets in Peninsular Malaysia; Penang, Butterworth, Johor Bahru and Malacca.
