What you are seeing (above & below) is called Pinology. It’s an art form called ‘pin art’ and it is used to raise funds for charity, by Yayasan Bakti Khidmat Masyarakat Malaysia, a non-profit organisation headquartered in Kuala Lumpur. For every RM1 donated, the donor would be given a pin, which he/she would pin on the art piece. There are a total of 50 pin arts in the full storyboard depicting Nyonya and Baba culture. Every piece of art, measuring 6ft X 3.8ft each would require 125,000 pins. This means that by the time all pieces of art are successfully pinned, with the 42 different colours of pins, a total of RM6,250,000 would have been raised. The foundation hopes this fete would be featured in the Guinness Book of World Records. Isn’t that mind-boggling? You MUST check this out for yourself.
