The Temple of Venus (Venustempel) in Amsterdam has got to be the most visited attraction in the city by foreigners. Located in an unassuming building along Damrak just a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal (Amsterdam Central Station), this museum is more a place for a good laugh rather than pornography.
Said to be the world’s first and oldest sex museum, the extensive personal collections of erotic pictures, paintings, recordings, comic strips, sculptures and other exhibits look at the many aspects of sensual love through the ages.
In addition to the €4 ticket to step into the museum, one would also need a brave heart and a great sense of humour. Personally, coming from Malaysia, Venustempel is a must-visit for me because an establishment like this will never be allowed in my country.
