Sempurna Kacang Putih, Ipoh
Although not as popular as DNS Kacang Putih and SR Kacang Putih, Sempurna Kacang Putih, also located in Kampung Kacang Putih, Buntong, Ipoh, is soon a name to be reckoned with as well.
A new name it may be, Sempurna is a third generation business, now helmed by granddaughter, Ms. Buvi. According to Buvi, her family’s kacang putih (crunchy Indian snacks) business was established by her grandfather, K. Chinnasamy Nadar, in 1946. He would carry trays of a variety of kacang putih on his head to hawk in Old Town.
In 1963, the business was passed down to a son, Jayabalan (Buvi’s father), who was only 12 years old then. Like his dad, Jayabalan also had to hawk his kacang putih until he finally secured a permanent spot at the canteen of SRJK Poi Lam, Ipoh.
When Jayabalan was in his 20s, the young entrepreneur began experimenting with kacang putih recipes, and finally created his own range of muruku: Muruku Sivel (1975), Muruku Star (1976), Muruku Kari (1982), Muruku Kalistar (1982) and Muruku Ramba (1999), under his own brand name of JB Buntong Kacang Putih.
Today, with Sempurna Kacang Putih, Buvi has a vision to export her kacang putih to an international market, after securing Halal status for her business.
Currently, Sempurna Kacang Putih, located on the main road of Jalan Sungai Pari, serves retail customers, who may also have the opportunity to see for themselves how kacang putih is manufactured.
When I visited as a delegate of WoW Perak under Tourism Perak Management Bhd. and Gaya Travel Magazine to promote the state in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017, I was able to see for myself how Omapudi, the most popular type of kacang putih in Sempurna from 70 varieties, is made.
By the way, Sempurna Kacang Putih is one year old and has just established this retail shop about a month ago. As an opening celebration, kacang putih fans can enjoy a “Buy 5, Free 1” promotion. Don’t miss the chance to “sweep” some kacang putih home!

Wow, Sempurna Kacang Putih has variety of Kacang. My favourite is muruku. Love it.
