Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri
First of all, let me wish you, my dear readers, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri! So, how did you spend the first day of Syawal? I attended the Hari Raya Open House hosted by Perak Chief Minister at his official residence.
Similar to a year ago, this Open House was also two-tier; the Chief Minister’s Hari Raya Open House and subsequently state-level Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, which was graced by the Regent of Perak, DYTM Raja Nazrin Shah and his consort DYTM Tuanku Zara Salim as well as Raja DiHilir Perak, DYAM Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and consort DYAM Raja Nur Mahani Raja Shahar Shah.
It was easily the largest ever Hari Raya Open House that I have attended at the Chief Minister’s official residence, with people from all races coming together to celebrate Hari Raya. Last year’s well-wishers were about 15,000; this year’s number is a lot more than that!
Children 12 years old and below were delighted to receive “ang pow” from the Chief Minister and his wife. The presence of popular local animation characters, Upin and Ipin added cheer to the celebration.
I take my hat off to guests who patiently queued up for the food. I lost my appetite just imaging the time I would waste waiting for my turn to be served. Well, that’s how Malaysians celebrate – by eating! Hahah!
