Selama, in the state of Perak, is a modest town. Not many people have heard of it, and even if one knows about it, it is not often he will make his way there, unless he has a reason to.
Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Selama to check out the district’s tourism offerings. Although I have visited Selama before, I was there for some other business unrelated to travel writing.
During my trip last week, I discovered that there are some twenty attractions in the District of Selama. Surprised? I was, truth be told, but then the district is the size of Perlis. One just needs time to explore and get to know Selama better.
Although one can manage a half-day or full-day tour of Selama, there may be travellers who wish to break their journey, especially if they are heading north to Thailand. Selama makes a great pit stop. This quiet town is to be explored leisurely to be appreciated.
I personally think that to really enjoy all the attractions of Selama, one should allocate at least 2D/1N, or better still, 3D/2N.
For those who want to break their journey in Selama, Selama Inn @ Rumah Rehat Selama makes a great choice. There are 23 rooms of various categories offered. Additionally, there is a homestay under the same management, just adjacent to the inn.
Combined, they are able to accommodate up to 60 pax comfortably, which makes it ideal for large groups, such as those who are on family excursions or participating in team building workshops.
Packages that are available for group outings, and can be arranged by Selama Inn or Majlis Daerah Selama (Selama District Council) are:
*Course / Workshop
– to Lata Buluh
– to Lata Mengkuang
These packages are priced from RM100 per person. Minimum 30 pax to go, up to 60 pax each package.
In case you didn’t know, Selama Inn was known as Rumah Rehat Selama. This new name was adopted in 2016 to reflect a more modern, upgraded accommodation.
