Safety First Even During Movement Control Order (MCO)
A ferocious thunderstorm ripped through some parts of Ipoh again this evening, uprooting trees and damaging parked vehicles.
Despite the current Movement Control Order (MCO), the safety of road users in the city is top priority for the local authorities.
Therefore, together with the Fire & Rescue Department (BOMBA), Ipoh City Council’s Jabatan Landskap dan Unit PANTAS, worked throughout the evening to unblock affected roads by removing fallen trees.
The rainfall of this magnitude occurred just days after the earlier freak storm that uprooted my cashew nut tree. This time round, the affected areas were Regat Rokam 5, Sungai Rokam, the vicinity of Hotel Seri Malaysia and Sultan Abdul Aziz Recreational Park (Polo Ground).
Work to clear up the debris will be done tomorrow. Road users are advised to be extra vigilant when using these roads while clearing work is in progress.
