The Chinese New Year celebration hosted by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Perak on the 16th day of the Chinese Lunar calendar marks the end of my series of posts on Chinese New Year celebrations and open houses in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia this Chinese New Year of the Rabbit.
Even though I am apolitical, I do recognise that Perak is a crucial state for any political party, therefore, I was rather surprised that there was no Federal party representative at this event last night. Also, it’s too bad that I was not able to stay till the end; the sketch by three drama and visual students from New Era College entitled “Tiga Budak” (Three Kids) ran a tad too long…
Besides the usual speeches and Chinese cultural performances that are common at Chinese New Year open houses and celebrations, this CNY celebration hosted by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Perak had something different: Chinese calligraphy. Obviously, the two pieces were already prepared by someone else. All Dr Manuty, Keadilan Perak Chief, had to do was fill a stroke with black ink. Hahaha!
