Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh in Celebration of 35th Ipoh City Day
The recently concluded Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh (Archipelago Cultural Festival Programme) held at the Stadium Indera Mulia in Ipoh was organised in conjunction with the 35th anniversary of Ipoh City Day. It attracted more than 3,000 visitors.
The objective was to enliven Visit Ipoh Year 2023, besides celebrating Ipoh City Day, through a community arts and culture programme that involved a combination of performances by local artistes, alongside groups from other Local Authorities such as Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Melaka Historic City Council, and Seremban City Council. The highlight was cultural dance showcases by Ipoh’s Friendship Cities, i.e., Nanning City (China) and Medan City (Indonesia).
Ipoh groups had the opportunity to perform for foreign guests, notably the 20-strong delegation from Nanning City, China. Local performers were Gema Warisan Budaya MBI, Kumpulan Gerakan Seni Alam and Kumpulan Jas Dhol Bhangra.
Pesta Budaya Nusantara @ Ipoh, which was held for the second consecutive year, was officiated by YB Tuan Loh Sze Yee, Chairman of the Perak State Tourism, Industry, Investment & Corridor Development Committee.
The joyful event was also attended by the Honourable Mr. Zhou Youbin, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Penang; Y.Bhg. Dato’ Haji Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md. Daud, Mayor of Ipoh City; Mdm. Huang Wen, Deputy Governor of the People’s Government of Xingning District of Nanning; Mdm. Huang Haiyan, Deputy Director of Nanning Foreign Affairs Office; Cik Nurmalis bt Musa, Chief Executive Officer Tourism Perak Management Bhd; representatives of Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Melaka Historic City Council and Seremban City Council, including representatives from Local Authorities within Perak state.
