Opened: Asia’s First Animation Theme Park Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS)
The long-awaited opening of Asia’s first animation theme park, Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) finally arrived yesterday. I, along with other Annual and Perak Pass holders, had waited with bated breath for over a year.
Now that the RM520 million mega theme park on 52 acres of land is ready, I’d say it was well worth the wait because MAPS is a magical fantasy park like no other.
Do take note that yesterday’s opening of doors to the public was a soft launch and there are still some sections of the park that are undergoing technical rehearsals, namely: The Dream Zone, Blast Off Zone, as well as The Adventurers’ Cartoon Factory.
When the entire park goes on full swing and the eventual date of the park’s Grand Launch will be announced in due time. At this moment, there are more than enough attractions to keep us entertained.
Conservatively, I would say that it takes a minimum three hours for a brisk walk through the park. However, for those of you who really indulge in all the rides and other attractions, it would take you at least six hours to enjoy them all. Yes, even at this stage!
So, is it an appropriate time to visit now? I don’t see why not. Admission on opening day itself (yesterday) exceeded 7,000 visitors. MAPS is suitable for kids three years and up, so bring your child and don’t forget your inner child.
There may be quite a bit of walking to do but prams are available for rent, so there’s no fuss. Besides, as most of MAPS is covered, it is a rather weather-friendly park.
Over the past few months, scores of people have enquired if they are still able to secure Annual or Perak Passes. Sorry to say, these are no longer available.
What’s for sale now is the Daily Pass, at RM190 (standard adult) and RM150 (standard senior / child / OKU). MyKad and MyKid holders pay RM148 and RM117 respectively.
But worry not! Those who purchase online at www.mapsperak.com will enjoy a special discount. Moreover, there is a soft opening promotion and a Hari Raya offer, so don’t procrastinate in catching these deals. With your admission ticket, all attractions within the park are free-of-charge. You only have to pay for parking (after 2nd July, 2017), services and dining as and when required.
If you purchase a Day Pass latest by 30th June, 2017, you will receive a complimentary entry ticket to enjoy the park for a second visit. This ticket is valid until 30th Sept, 2017.
What about holders of the Annual or Perak Pass? As you may already know, the clock starts ticking for these passes from the day the park is in operation.
The good news is that holders are rewarded with an extra month, so these passes only expire 13 months from yesterday, thus are valid until 25th July, 2018.
During this soft opening period until 2nd July, 2017, the first 1,000 Annual or Perak Pass holders will enjoy the following:
1) 50% discount at MAPS F&B outlets with purchase of RM50 and above in a single receipt.
2) Two complimentary Day Passes with combined F&B receipts valued at RM400 and above. Currently, the F&B outlets that you can dine in are The Pitstop Café, Coral Kingdom Café and Starport Café.
3) Special edition MAPS t-shirt or cap by visiting the park with your family of four persons. Gifts are available on first come, first served basis.
4) Get bottomless carbonated drink refill with any purchase of two MAPS tumblers at RM50 or two MAPS mugs at RM30.
Anyway, for detailed information about park attractions, ticket prices, promotions and other updates, log on to MAPS official Facebook Page. Live your dreams!

That long walkway to the park kind of reminds me of Legoland when we went there last 2013. I have to commend Malaysia for having another wonderful theme park. I’d schedule a trip for this, but not too soon (no budget yet). Thanks for sharing! ♡
