New Electric Train Service (ETS) Schedule: KL Sentral – Ipoh
Note: This post has been updated on Aug 9, 2017.
Since the launch of the Electric Train Service (ETS) two years ago, the service has undergone slight changes, the most drastic being the removal of the KL-Seremban route, but subsequently reinstated.
Some months back, the ETS office in KL Sentral relocated to the KTM counter at the opposite wing of the building.
Beginning 1st October, 2012, ETS revamped its schedule, removing Platinum class, and adding more trips per day to ply Ipoh – Kuala Lumpur Sentral.
This post supersedes all previous posts on my blog about ETS schedules and the different classes.

Dear Emily,
Just wanted to say thank you for train schedule and updates.
They are most useful when you can’t rely on the KTMB website.
You are really doing a social services to us all.
Lubis
appreciated your good reporting, nice work. maybe give it a shot next trip to Malaysia. how’s the service anyway? best regards.
I have no complaints about the service. The trains are on time, and that’s the most important factor for me.
Hi, please assist……is there an ETS running from KL Sentral to Taiping? Thank you kindly. David Lim, Singapore.
Sorry, northbound ETS stops at Ipoh.
Emily,你好,我想请问下,我是想要从怡保坐ets 去kl sentral之后再坐去lcct,可是我看了之前你upload上去的时间表,我还是不大明白,麻烦你可以解释解释吗,谢谢。
If you are going to LCCT from Ipoh, it’s most convenient to take the bus.
Check out this post for options.

ETS is like a freezer. Can the temperature in the coach be regulated to 26C and above if the coach is half filled?
Thanks so much for the schedule Emily. I am returning to KL with my girls for the first time in 3 yrs and thought about a day trip to ipoh(tambun water park) this should help heaps as not easy to otganise other transport. once again thank you 🙂
hello!cn i ask how to take a transport frm KLIA to Ipoh via ETS ?
Hi Stella,
From KLIA, take the KLIA Express to KL Sentral. From there, take the ETS to Ipoh. You will disembark at the Ipoh railway station.
However, for convenience, may I suggest you to take the Yoyo or Star Shuttle express bus, which will take you from KLIA straight to Ipoh’s Terminal Amanjaya express bus terminal in Bandar Meru Raya.
Have a safe trip.
Hey Emily,cn u knw tat is it the nearest station tat i take the ETS train to ipoh in kl sentral from LCCT airport?
I don’t really get your question, but if you are coming from LCCT to Ipoh, it’s better for you to take the bus.
YoYo and Star Shuttle are two companies that ply LCCT – KLIA – Ipoh.

Hi Emily,
I am from Australia and currently staying in Damansara Utama. I want to travel from Damansara / KL to Ipoh. Is it best to go to KLCC and catch the train? Do I need to pre-purchase a train ticket or can I just get it on the day at the station. I want to travel on the morning of 18/09/14
Hi Kareen,
To take the train to Ipoh from KL, you have to catch it either at KL Sentral or the old KL train station (not KLCC).
If you are travelling on an off-peak day or can afford time to lounge at the station if the next available train is a couple of hours away, you can try to get your ticket at the last minute.
Check seat availability here:
http://www.ktmb.com.my/index.php/2013-10-22-03-50-26
Otherwise, pre-purchase at the counter or purchase your ticket online here (I have not personally tried online purchase):

Hope this info helped.

Hai, emily..
I’m from Sarawak & planning to go to Batu Gajah this upcoming 18/9/2015… So, if I wanna use ETS train, how am I supposed to buy the ticket? Could I juz book via online or do I need to buy it at the counter only? And if I need to buy it at the counter, could I buy it on the spot? Or still have to get the ticket much more earlier?
Hi NUNU,
You can purchase your ticket at the counter (provided it is not sold out) or online via this link (I have not personally tried online purchase):
https://intranet.ktmb.com.my/e-ticket/login.aspx
I normally buy my ticket at the counter in advance, but since you are from Sarawak, I think it’s best to get your ticket online.
Emily, thanks so much for the info, very useful. Blessings!
Thanks Emily! U r awesome!!!
Emily, appreciate if you can confirm whether ETS provide free wifi service on the journey. Cannot find anything on KTMB website.
Thks.
Hi hbg,
I have found out from a reliable source that the free WiFi service has been temporarily suspended. Stay tuned for further development.
Hi Emily,
Thanks for continuing to update on ETS info. May I know how I can travel from Penang Island to Ipoh on ETS ?
Hi Maureen,
From Penang Island, take a ferry to Butterworth KTM station. From there, take the train to Ipoh.
