Featuring a Balinese resort feel, Little Elephant serves Asian fusion cuisine. Although this café is in my neighbourhood, I have not been there until recently when I got wind that the menu and services have improved by leaps and bounds upon a change in management.

As you can see from these photos, my family and I had a feast there! All these items came highly recommended and I would like to point out the Chicken Kebab in particular – this is a must-have when you dine here.

The dishes are at regular Ipoh café prices but take note of the portions served. They are so generous. Oh yes, before I forget, the sambal here really has a kick although the nasi lemak listed on the menu is only rated one chilli icon. It’s just lip-smacking!

We really enjoyed the cosy ambience and spent some hours there, and before we knew it, it was time for afternoon tea. Check out the 3-tier afternoon tea set. Priced at RM48 for two pax, it consists of mini-sized sago gula Melaka, cendol cheese cake, pastries, skewered chicken meat balls accompanied by peanut sauce (à la satay), cucumber sandwiches, chicken curry bruschetta and spring rolls.

Add RM7 to your afternoon tea set to enjoy a pot of original Sabah tea to wash down with. This entire set is called Borneo Afternoon Tea and is only available here at Little Elephant.

Also of note is the Ipoh Cendol topped with a scoop of creamy coconut ice cream. The ice cream really does make a difference to the cendol, forming a more flavourful taste, if I may say so.

By the way, dining at Little Elephant during lunch and dinner offer contrasting experiences. When the sun has set, you would want to enjoy the fresh air by eating at one of the gazebos. Of different sizes, they cater to couples and families. It’s very romantic at night – they close at 11pm so there’s plenty of time to enjoy the ambience.
