Mi MIUI 3rd Anniversary Gathering + Christmas Celebration

When I was informed of the Mi MIUI 3rd Anniversary Gathering-cum-Christmas Celebration, I knew I just had to sign up for it. After all, as a Xiaomi user since the early days when the company made in roads to Malaysia, I have missed all the earlier gatherings due to work.

My commitment to this gathering ought to differ, I told myself. This time I would block my calendar just for the event. The tricky part was that there were just forty seats available and obviously, every fan was clamouring for a spot! Tough as it was, I submitted my name and kept my fingers and toes crossed.

Thankfully, and uneventfully, I was selected. And then came the planning part. What’s there to plan when we were only told that it would be held at Mi Bunny’s secret burrow? Aha, coming from Ipoh, I had to make my way to KL, that was the only planning I could do.

Anyway, the date came soon enough and the venue was revealed to be at Co @ The Row in Chow Kit. Ah, it was just steps from Medan Tuanku Monorail Station. Yuhoo! Most convenient for me!

The strange thing about this Mi MIUI 3rd anniversary gathering was that despite establishing the Xiaomi Redmi Note Users Malaysia Facebook Group with over nine thousand members, I did not know anyone in the guest list except for one person. Oh, that would be exciting!

The four-hour event began with games to break the ice. No matter which position we came out in the games, all participants received a prize. Didn’t the organisers already mentioned that it was a Christmas celebration as well? Ah, the season indeed arrived early and Ol’ St. Nick was hiding somewhere!

It was gifts galore of Mi products and premiums, from Mi umbrella to bag, band, pouch, pen, bunny and many more; a lot of these items are not available locally. I’ve got myself a Mi Band, my first wearable device, and I am happily wearing it now after successfully pairing it with my Xiaomi phone.

However, the most important moment at such a fan meetup was not the gifts and prizes but the hands-on experience with the brand’s latest models: Mi A1, Mi Mix 2, and Redmi Note 5A Prime. What an enticement for those of us who were in two minds if we should upgrade our Xiaomis already! Yes, we got to touch, feel and use them. Are you envious by now?

Four hours just flew by and after the official session was over, questions on Xiaomi’s development in Malaysia in terms of product availability continued to overwhelm the two Xiaomi representatives who graced the occasion: William and Dannie.

What an interesting day it was! By the time I reached home in Ipoh, it was already 11pm. However, there were no regrets as it was a day spent with Xiaomi users and be part of the community. I am already looking forward to the next meetup!

  1. It’s good that they organise this kind of activity for the users. Can get feedback from the real users. A lot of interesting activities too!!

  2. Wah so rajin you travelled all the way for the event! I’m sure it was worth it indeed. Christmas is the best time of the year!

  3. Cool event and yay, you are so lucky to be chosen! I know the feeling of little worriness to join the event you truly like but you have to wait.
