MARDI Agro Technology Park, Cameron Highlands

Even though Ipoh is quite near to Cameron Highlands, I rarely visit it. Recently, we made a trip up, and had the opportunity to spend time at MARDI’s Agro Technology Park. For a while, somehow, the cottages here reminded me of Fraser’s Hill.
Situated 1400 metres above sea level, this MARDI Cameron Highland’s Station was first established in 1925. Known as Federal Experimental Station, it was recently converted into an agro technology park.
Besides housing the oldest tea bushes, it is also home to the oldest tea factory, which is still in operation today. The Park also has four main gardens: English Garden, Herb Garden, Orchid Garden and Rose Garden.
Annually, more than 100,000 people visit this Agro Technology Park. Visitors to this park get to see a multitude of flowers, plants and crops. Due to conducive climate in the Highlands and advancement in agro technology, many temperate plants thrive here, including apples and strawberries. These produces are for sale, probably at much cheaper prices than at the market.
