The novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has unleashed chaos on the world. During Malaysia’s Movement Control Order (MCO) since 18th March, many of my friends are facing financial hardship. Some had to take a pay cut, while there are others who have zero income, especially daily wage earners.
Recently, we have been brainstorming on ways how to generate some income online while staying at home. I came across a platform but it requires an annual investment of USD45. Although on paper it looks like one can recover the sum of approximately RM200 within a month, frankly speaking, during this economic weather, not all of us are willing to fork out this amount of cash.
A friend told us about RodeoGO, which pays RM1 per video watched. These clips are actually advertisements with a duration of approximately 30 seconds. At the end of it, we are given an objective question which we have to answer correctly to receive 1000 coins, with a value of RM1.
The positive feature is that if we are doubtful of the answer, we can rewatch the ad, because we are given the same question to answer. Once we have submitted a reply, we can’t play the video again.
If you wonder what are the ads we have to watch, they are essentially major household brand names. Truly, I don’t mind watching them because I am already a consumer of these items. Hence, it’s a great information source when new products are launched. Additionally, to be able to earn cash or vouchers just by engaging with advertisements, that’s certainly a plus point.
Besides watching videos to earn, we can participate in other tasks, such as taking a photo of TV adverts (spot the ad on TV) or uploading photos of us doing exercise. This is awesome especially that we are compelled to stay at home, yet trying to continue with our exercise routine. This has caused us to be creative in keeping up with our fitness regime.
There are only a handful of tasks in RodoeGo right now, so completing all of them took me just a few minutes. This means that we can’t earn much from the app at this point, and to meet the withdrawal threshold of RM70 takes longer. Nonetheless, I believe that as more people download and use the app, a larger pool of advertisers will utilise RodeoGO to market their products.
If you are interested to make some pocket money just by watching a few ads with zero investment (since you already have internet and smartphone), here are the links to download the app, either Android or iOS.

If you have some other ways to earn money online, do let me know. Not to say that we can become rich but it’s much-needed pocket money, agree?
