Kek Lok Si @ Penang

Kek Lok Si (Hokkien: Temple of Supreme Bliss) in Air Itam, Penang, has got to be the most famous Chinese temple on the island. It is the largest Buddhist temple in South East Asia in terms of size.

I don’t remember the last time I visited Kek Lok Si but it has changed a lot. It’s huge. The afternoon I visited, I didn’t manage to walk the entire temple grounds. I was afraid I’d get lost and then miss my appointment at another part of the island later that day.

Admission to Kek Lok Si is free but donations are welcomed and there is a souvenir store where 100% proceeds are channeled to the temple building fund. Kek Lok Si is still under going renovations and it continues to expand.
